The 2010 recipient of the John Beard Award is Dr. David Carroll, Director of Recovery Services, Office of Mental Health services, US Department of Veterans Affairs. Since launching her career, Dori Hutchinson has focused on the physical health of individuals in recovery, developing and evaluating state-of-the-science programs to affect health and wellness. This is reflected in the majority of her peer reviewed publications which examine specific topics, but also provide the framework for necessary reform and restructuring of physical health care services for people in recovery.

The 2010 recipient of the Carol T.
