The Academy of Peer Services is a NYS Office of Mental Health funded training and technical assistance center whose purpose is to improve peer provided services in New York State through the enhancement of skills and education. The Academy provides web-based education, technical assistance and opportunities to foster sharing of knowledge, experience and information. Over the next four years, the Academy of Peer Services will offer online training to support staff and managers, foster the development of regional communities of practices though in-person and web-based activities, and technical assistance utilizing a pool of experts in the delivery and management of peer services. Communities of Practice

 

In each of the five OMH regions in NYS, the Academy will organize and host quarterly activities designed to foster Communities of Practice which will allow peer support staff and peer managers to share knowledge, experience and information. These activities will take place in face-to-face and virtual environments.

 

Technical Assistance

 

‘Ask the Experts’ is a technical assistance program which utilizes a pool of New York State experts in the delivery and management of peer services. In many cases, individualized technical assistance services can be provided for specific requests by organizations.
