SAMHSA's Wellness Initiative, National Wellness Week

SAMHSA’s Wellness Initiative is aimed at improving quality of life and increase years of life for people with mental health and substance addiction challenges by engaging in community activities that include at least one of the Eight Dimensions of Wellness:

  • Emotional
  • Environmental
  • Financial
  • Intellectual
  • Occupational
  • Physical
  • Social
  • Spiritual

More than 100 organizations in 2011, from behavioral health and primary care providers to peer-run, faith-based, and other community organizations in 36 states, participated in the first National Wellness Week. This year, National Wellness Week will run from September 17-23.

NYAPRS is very pleased to help support National Wellness Week through our September 19-21 Annual Conference. Once again, the Conference will be featuring our annual Health and Healing Fair with opportunities to receive Shiatsu, Acupuncture and Massage treatments along with a full complement of workshops and tables promoting health, wellness and recovery.
