Sandy Notwithstanding, This Thursday's NYAPRS Regional Forum Will Take Place! LI Forum to be Rescheduled

NYAPRS Note: NYAPRS NYC leaders want to go ahead with this Thursday’s regional forum which will both look to provide support for our NYC community members during these challenging times as well as making sure our advocacy on a number of state initiatives that will forever change their services will include their feedback. So please come and join us this Thursday at noon to share your voices and to lunch with us.

I personally look very much forward to seeing you all and offering you our full support.

Also, given the ongoing disaster and power problems that continue to occur on Long Island, that forum that had been originally set for this Friday will be re-scheduled: stay tuned!

NYAPRS is pleased to invite New York City Area peers and providers

to our fall 2012 NYAPRS Regional Forums

Program Open & Free to All

  • New York’s mental health services are on their way to being integrated with addiction and medical services via the new Health Home and managed care designs.
  • At the same time, the state is developing an ‘Olmstead Plan’ that will commit state agencies to moving people and public dollars from segregated settings (like hospitals, adult and nursing homes, workshops and day programs) to most integrated settings of their choice (like apartments and jobs).
  • These initiatives will forever change public mental health and healthcare systems and will move public services’ focus to helping people with disabilities to live as independently as possible!
  • NYAPRS is also preparing for next year’s Annual Legislative Day (January 29th) in Albany to help us educate and influence state officials, legislators and the media.

Come and learn and give us your input on these 3 topics and more so NYAPRS can best represent your concerns and recommendations in Albany... at the Medicaid Redesign and Olmstead tables and during next year’s budget and legislative session!
