Speaker Bios:

Waynette Brock of One New Heartbeat

Waynette DeVonna Brock, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of One New Heartbeat, is also a full-time employee at MedAssets, however she still finds the time to serve the community while maintaining a balance for quality family and personal recovery time. As an Advanced Level WRAP Facilitator Waynette has trained a myriad of individuals, including the first inmate behind the walls to facilitate groups within the California State Penitentiary. Waynette and her team has created an outreach modality that encompasses a broad range of services, specifically targeting high risk individuals, as well as anyone who wants positive life changes. Allied with these concepts is a response network available to answer the needs of those pending, or in the depths of a crisis. One New Heartbeat hosts a weekly open WRAP group at no cost in the community. This newly formed organization was developed under the model established by Mary Ellen Copeland, Ph.D., author of WRAP® a nationally recognized wellness program. Waynette invites people facing everyday life challenges to share their experiences and feelings associated with day to day living. “For me”, learning the importance of visualizing a positive response to challenges helps to ease the discomfort associated with confrontation. Here is where learning to address individual needs and overcoming self-imposed obstacles is important and healthy. Currently Waynette and her husband Timothy Facilitate workshops in the Maquire Correctional Facility, which in some cases include our fallen Veterans.
