NYAPRS Note: For the last MRLC of 2013, let’s step back from all the changes that are happening around us and focus on what we need to do as managers to lead our agencies and staff forward. We are at a pivotal point in Healthcare with a major change just around the corner as we move from fee for service to managed behavioral healthcare. This service change can be difficult for everyone and the changes we are going through with Medicaid Redesign and health care reform are massive. Leading your agency through massive change takes a special kind of leadership, a new way of thinking “on your feet” and an ability to be flexible and inclusive. If we want our health care system to transform, we all must learn to be transformational leaders to guide our agencies through the process. Change occurs when we feel that the change will be positive, that it is possible and that it will be supported. Join Dr. Arthur Evans, Jr. Ph.D. Commissioner, Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility as he shares how to assure that your leadership style is up to the challenge that lies ahead.
