Join Us! Restore Opportunity Now (RON) Campaign Sign On and Launch Event on December 8th in Albany

As you may know, NYCON is signed on to theRestore Opportunity Now (RON) campaign, and we invite you to join us! Restore Opportunity Now is a statewide campaign, seeking systemic changes and key investments in the nonprofit human services sector.

Now more than ever, it is critical that New York state continue to be a progressive leader. This campaign will highlight the many issues experienced by nonprofits, and seek to work collaboratively with government to ensure:

  • Appropriate, competitive compensation for our workforce, allowing for recruitment and retention of quality staff;
  • Contracts that cover the real cost of providing services, permitting nonprofits to be innovative, efficient, and effective;
  • Investments in core programs necessary to lift up communities.

    The time for action is now and we hope that you can join the rest of the human services community andsign on to Restore Opportunity Now!

Federal Judge Blocks Overtime Rule
On Tuesday, November 22, a federal district judge in Texasissued a preliminary injunctionblocking implementation of theOvertime Final Rule, ruling that the U.S. Department of Labor exceeded its authority. Barring a last-minute appeal, the overtime rule will not go into effect as scheduled on December 1 because of this decision...The Dept. of Labor is expectedto appeal the decision, meaning that injunction could be lifted and the overtime rule put in place in a matter of weeks or months.READ MORE HERE from the National Council of Nonprofits.
