Alert: Urge NYS Legislators to Act to Release $1.9b in Housing Funds

Dear advocates:

We need your help! Please click the link below to email the Governor andlegislative leaders to urge them to sign the supportive and affordable housing MOU TODAY.If you have done so before. We still need you to do so again today.

Last week,Governor Cuomo took a big step toward a signed MOU bydirecting the New York State Division of the Budget to execute a memorandum of understanding (MOU)to release $2 billion in funding to advance the creation of more than 100,000 units of affordable and supportive housing over the nextfive years. Theexecuted agreement is now before the New York State Senate and Assembly for their action.

The final budget which passed in April included funding to support the first 6,000 supportive housing units, and 100,000 affordable units but required a separate MOU between the Governor and each legislative leader.Five months later, that agreement has still not been signed.

We need all three parties – the Senate, the Assembly and the Executive - to agree on a final MOU so that $2 billion in already-budgeted funding can be released to start developing desperately needed supportive and affordable housing.

The Governor agreed to sign an MOU. Now we need the NYS Assembly and NYS Senate to also sign the MOU.

It’s critical Albany hears our collective voice TODAY!
