Welcome Orange is a collaboration of agencies committed to providing a hopeful, welcoming, person-centered

approach to meeting individual's needs by collaborating and connecting people to resources for healthy living that lead to achieving their desired goals. This collaboration provides the opportunity for participating agencies to identify common goals and best

practices, as well as speak with one voice. As a result, the people that come to services can get improved access in a welcoming environment resulting in better outcomes for them and for the agency. Come hear how Imagine Dutchess and Welcome Orange are transforming two Hudson Valley Counties.

Presenters:

Steven Miccio is the chief executive officer of

Projects to Empower and Organize the Psychiatrically Labeled, Inc. (PEOPLe, Inc.) located in Poughkeepsie, New York.  He has a lived experience of a mental health diagnosis and has used that experience to advocate for improved quality care and rights for others

in New York and nationally.  Mr. Miccio is considered a leader in the development and operations of alternative crisis services and is currently developing in partnership with local government and community providers, a stabilization center that is accessible

24/7. Mr. Miccio is partnering and using all community and non-traditional providers to commit to meeting the Triple Aim goals as set out by the Affordable Care Act. Mr. Miccio is a current board member of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association and is

a current board member and past president of the New York Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation (NYAPRS).

 

Darcie Miller, LCSW-R, is the Commissioner at

the Orange County Department of Social Services, and Acting Commissioner at the Orange County Department of Mental Health. Prior to that, she served as the Commissioner for the Department of Mental Health for 2 years, Deputy Commissioner for seven years and

has been part of the County's MH team for more than a decade. As Commissioner, Ms. Miller oversees Orange County's planning, development, and coordination of services of a wide range of social welfare programs

under the divisions of Human Services, Economic Independence and Administrative. As Acting Commissioner, Ms. Miller oversees Orange County's planning, development, and coordination of services in the fields of mental health, developmental disabilities, and

chemical dependency. Commissioner Miller is a member of the multi-disciplinary County Team which focuses on youth needs in the community, as well as SUNY Orange Advisory Committee, the Medical Reserve Corp, and the Cultural Equity Task Force. Ms. Miller as

a member of Orange County Government's "Team Orange" has become Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified implementing efficient, cost - effective, and exemplary government practice. She is Treasurer of the New York State Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors,

Inc. (CLMHD), Board Member of Taconic Health Information Network and Community (THiNC), Member of the Advisory board of Westchester Medical Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP), co-chair Orange County Opiate Task Force, and was recently selected

as a member of the planning committee for the Hudson River Regional Centers for Excellence Team. Commissioner Miller received her Master's in Social Work and her Bachelors of Science degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Acting Commissioner

Miller is passionate about infusing the system of care with trauma informed, culturally competent, and recovery orientated values, and practices.
