Moving Mental Health Care Into The Community

NYAPRS News:  With the need for expansion of community services people facing the struggle of finding resources are coming together to help others and meet that need in smaller cities. Life Connections Peer Recovery Services, an Iowa based organization said one of their goals is to create a place that can provide respite toward recovery. http://www.ourquadcities.com/news/moving-mental-health-care-into-the-community/1103692995.  We see crisis respites have really taken off nationally, many building on the work of Shery Mead in New Hampshire and Steve Miccio in New York. Laysha Ostrow, CEO of Live A& Learn, Inc., has done considerable collaborative research of respite operations efforts in order to advance awareness and expansion of peer respites. http://www.livelearninc.net . Our own NYS budget commits to $50 million in capital funds to build many more in the coming few years here.
